Parkrun launches it's first weekly event in Auldcathie Park
Starting on Saturday 7th January 2023, every week at 9:30am.

With a huge thanks to the dedication of local resident Gillian Wells and a committed team of volunteers the weekly parkrun event held every Saturday at 9:30am at Auldcathie park starts on 7th January 2023.

During the early community engagement meetings Winchburgh Development Ltd held with residents on the creation of a new greenspace to convert a 95 acre landfill site into a public park which would later be named Auldcathie Park. They received large amounts of requests from the residents for a free community parkrun event, local resident Gillian Wells took on the challenge with her committed team of volunteers in partnership with WDL to make this come to fruition.

Over the past year the group of volunteers have worked closely with WDL on plans to organise and safely hold the weekly parkrun events while developing the park to become a registered national parkrun venue with a number of different 5k routes within the park. Regular meetings held with the local house developers showed their backing for the community run events with Cala, Taylor Wimpey, Smarts, Barratt and Bellway joining as proud sponsors of the Auldcathie parkrun.

Parkrun events are free for everyone to join in and complete the 5k route by either running, jogging or walking. It's a great way to meet other members of your community while being in a great open greenspace to enjoy.

Each week accredited volunteers will steward the route and manage the event to ensure the publics safety. Register for free with Parkrun Register to enable to log your times and record your own improvement each time you take part.
