Community Growing Area

Growing areas side entrance

The community growing area within Auldcathie park is 1.5 acres adopted by the Winchburgh community growing group as part of a 3 year project to transform the area into a communal growing area for all ages to get involved in.

The community run project started on 26th March 2022 when volunteers could first access the area to start the works.

"We would like to thank everyone for the great community support in helping to transform the area for all to enjoy."

Whats currently going on?

Preparing for winter

To prepare for the winter months and as the soil becomes too wet to work, Winchburgh Community Growing Group will be covering up areas that are to become next years soil level beds with the straw from the first yearly Halloween event held in Auldcathie park and weed membrane to kill off any grass and weeds in the area ready for spring.

During the winter months volunteers of the growing group will work on adding more wooden planters, planting up the community orchard during the fruit trees dormant phase and planning this years winter community tree planting event in Auldcathie park.
